Beat The Heat F.A.Q.'s

Q: My car isn’t fast enough.

A. Not true! This is bracket racing. It isn't how fast your car runs, its how well you know your car and how good you are at the lights.

Q. Racing at high speeds is dangerous.

A. This is not a dangerous sport, depending on the vehicle you are racing, your speeds may only get up to 65 mph.

Q. What’s in it for me?

A. As we said, you can win the chance to race at a national level for scholarship money and other prizes. Also at every race there are trophies given out to the winner, second and third place finishers.

Q. How does the point system work?

A. When you enter the beat the heat races, you are given a track number. That will be your # for the year. Each race you attend you are given points, just for being there! Then when competition starts, the more rounds you last the more points you get.

Q. How do I get involved?

A. Just show up to the track and bring a parent or legal guardian(if you’re under 18) and get signed in. Make some time runs and get ready to race.

Q. What are time runs?

A. Time runs are trial runs down the track (practice). While doing these runs you are finding out how long it takes for your car to travel down the 1/4 mile track. After the time runs, we go into the elimination rounds. This is where you need to remember your times because you will need to put your time on your vehicle. Now when you're racing you want to travel down the 1/4 mile track as close as you can to your time without going faster than you said you would. If you go faster you lose. The closest to their estimated time without going faster, wins. And if your vehicle is slower than the car you're racing then you will be given a head start. This is figured by subtracting your speed from the speeds of the other vehicles. The difference in speed is given to your car as a head start, this is all done by the computer. Cheating is not possible, if you try it, you'll lose.

Q. How long can I race?

A. You can race all night, if you lose and are eliminated, then you can still race with your friends. This means until the track closes.

Q. How much does this cost?

A. $16.00 to race with a high school id., $21.00 without. $6.00 to watch with id., $12.00 without.

Q. When does the racing start?

A. Gates open at 5:30p.m., time trials start at 6:00p.m., and elimination’s starts at 7:30p.m. We always enjoy you and your family showing up for the fun.
